The First Spouse Gold Commemoratives are minted by the United States Mint in 0.9999 pure gold. Each coin contains 1/2 (0.5) troy ounces (ozt) of pure gold and has a monetary value of $10. The obverse boasts a portrait of the First Spouse or, if the President was not married during his presidency, an image of Liberty. The reverse displays a scene which honors the First Spouse’s life.
